Following the total mess caused by April’s six consecutive days of massive air traffic disruption due to Iceland’s Eyjafjallajokull volcano spewing clouds of ashes, EU transport Ministers met to discuss possible improvements of the EU’s air traffic management.

Musée Magritte
On Tuesday June 2nd, the Royal Museums of Fine Arts of Belgium and the Magritte Foundation opened the “Musée Magritte Museum”, located in Place Royale, a stone’s throw from the Grand Place and the Royal Palace. The museum is seen as a much deserved tribute to the work of René Magritte, Belgium’s greatest surrealist painter.
It is installed in the elegant, neo-classical Altenloh mansion and houses the world’s largest collection of the great surrealist’s works. During the construction works of the new museum, an enormous 1600m² painting of Magritte “L’empire des Lumières” covered the facade of the building, on the Place Royale side.

Commission’s Priorities for 2010
The European Commission presented its Annual Policy Strategy which forms the board basis for its policy agenda for 2010. The Strategy tries to strike a balance between the need for continuity of the institution’s strategic planning system, while being mindful of the fact that a new Commission will be in office in 2010. The next Commission will be charged with the task of drafting the Commission’s Work Programme for 2010.
The Annual Policy Strategy for 2010 outlines policy objectives in four areas:
•Economic and social recovery;
•Climate change and sustainable Europe;
•Putting the citizen first;
•Europe as a world partner.
